The state of the art community facility at Silwood has opened its doors this week for the first time, with a lot of help from L&Q staff.
The Lewington Centre was handed over to L&Q from construction firm Higgins in May. L&Q’s South East neighbourhood investment and development teams have worked hard together to make sure that services that were promised to the community could go ahead. This resulted in all hands on deck to clean the centre so that Lewisham Uni, the youth work that is operating out of the centre over the summer, could take place lead by Lewisham Youth Services.
David Gannicott, L&Q’s Group Director for the South region visited the centre before it opened to see how things had developed, he said “It’s a fantastic building and will be a real asset to the community of Silwood and beyond”.
There will be an official opening of the centre and a celebration to complete the building works at Silwood in September.
