‘My Endz’ artwork exhibition by young people in Waltham Forest

Youth art project in Waltham forest, teaching young people digital art programmes.

‘My Endz’ was a 12 week course towards the end of 2007, which taught digital photography and Photoshop to young people in Waltham Forest. The course was held at the Cyberlink Centre on the Beaumont Estate which is owned and managed by L&Q.

Eight hard to reach young people, including local residents, attended the course and were able to explore and express how they see their local environment.

The course has resulted in 30 pieces of artwork, professionally printed and mounted now being put on display for all the local organisations and residents to see.

The exhibition will be at the Beaumont Estate’s Cyberlink Centre until the 28th March when it will then move to Leyton Town Hall for the Leyton Talent Day on the 29th. There are also plans to then show the collection at the William Morris Gallery, Waltham Forest Town Hall and the Roding School (dates tbc).

Alkas Rahman, Neighbourhood Investment Co-ordinator for L&Q was pleased with the response to the course “My Endz has been a great success. The young people that took part have really benefited from the training. Their creativity and how they see their environment has generated a lot of interest for the artwork, local residents and organisations are interested in purchasing some of the work which is great news.”

My Endz is a pilot training programme funded by L&Q, Neighbourhood Learning for Deprived Communities (NLDC), Team Leyton and Better Neighbourhoods Initiative (BNI). Designed for young people not in employment, education or training (NEET).
