Options for tenants who want to move home

L&Q has signed up to two national web-based mutual exchange services to make it easier for our tenants who want to move to find new homes.

Tenants already have the option of finding another housing association or council tenant who wants to move and completing a mutual exchange. This means they exchange tenancies, with their landlords’ permission, and move permanently into each other’s homes.

Since 1 May 2008, our residents can register for free with two online services called House Exchange and HomeSwapper. Both have large databases that residents can search for a suitable new home.

The benefits to our residents are:

• A wider choice in the type of home and location they may want to live in – including opportunities to move to areas where L&Q does not have any homes
• The ability to be more proactive in looking for a new home
• The likelihood of finding a move more quickly
