Lewisham Park in South East London

Lewisham Park is an estate of 204 flats across three tower blocks. They consist of 164 rented homes and 40 owned by leaseholders. A 2004 stock survey showed that the level of investment needed to repair and improve the blocks could only be achieved through a stock transfer.

In March 2006 L&Q was chosen by the estate’s resident steering group and the council as their preferred housing association partner.

This selection followed community consultation events, newsletters and door-knocking to inform local residents.

In October 2006, 83% of the 73% of eligible tenants who voted were in favour of the stock transfer. In April 2007, once the formal transfer process was completed, the homes were transferred to L&Q in Lewisham’s first Decent Homes stock transfer.

We are investing £6 million in the 204 homes. Within two years tenants will have double glazing, and new kitchens and bathrooms in their own choice of colours and finishes. We will also provide double glazing in entrances and hallways and a deep clean of all communal areas.
