While it may seem cool to get the latest albums and films for nothing, you're actually taking a massive risk and could well get caught.

The penalties for this "copyright theft" vary depending on how serious the crime is, but if you're thinking of downloading DVDs to sell to your mates, you could get fined up to £5,000 and get six months in prison. If the crime is so big that you end up in a higher court, the
fine could be unlimited and the judge is allowed to send you to jail for up to ten years.
Downloading films won't seem like such a bargain then!
Although illegal downloads can land you in serious trouble, there are plenty of sites where you can download music to your iPod quite cheaply and
it's perfectly legal. There are loads of websites to choose from but Woolworths has one of the cheapest - you can download singles from 59p and albums from £5.99.
Another place to get really cheap DVDs and CDs is your local library.
Your mates might say that it's sad, but where else can you borrow CDs for less than £1 and DVDs for less than £3?
