Noisy neighbours strike a peace deal

Noisy Neighbours

FOR noisy neighbours Anne Freston and David Sykes, making up with each other was a “peace” of cake.
David lives upstairs from Anne and they used to drive each other crazy with stereos booming Garage music and televisions blaring.

The problems escalated and Anne got friends and family involved, which threatened to push the dispute into all-out war.

Luckily the pair decided to get their supported housing officer involved and she was able to broker a peace deal of which world leaders would be proud.
David and Anne sat at the negotiating table, had a long talk and drew up good behaviour contracts, with Anne promising to bake a load of rock cakes for David if she upset him and David promising to clean Anne’s windows for a week if he annoyed her.

Anne said: “We had the meeting on neutral ground and I was scared and nervous before it, but we talked about feelings and each told our side of the story.
“We are becoming friends now. We giggle and have a laugh.”

David admitted: “I was a bit worried before the meeting, but after it I felt positive.”
