A number of new initiatives to combat anti-social behaviour have resulted from a partnership agreement in Burnham, South Bucks.
Residents of Coulson Way have long been troubled by anti-social behaviour. To help address this, housing associations including L&Q, and the local community police, have entered a joint working partnership agreement with the local residents’ Neighbourhood Action Group.
As a result, L&Q have supplied the local community safety police with a ladies’ bicycle, which has made their lives easier. Young people feel far more at ease speaking to a police officer on a bike rather than having to stop a car.
L&Q has also put up fencing to stop young people congregating in their cars and causing ASB. Meanwhile, the police have increased patrols, particularly in the evenings.
Neighbourhood Investment Officer Janet Feakes says: “The regular Neighbourhood Action Group meetings with members from the parish council, police, local residents and agencies are proving to be a very useful way of getting things done. These partnerships help smooth things along.”
