Young people from the Silwood estate in Lewisham had a great day out riding scrambler bikes at Essex Arena recently as a reward for attending a motorbike maintenance course.
The course took place on the estate and was supported by L&Q, Tower Homes, Presentation Housing, East London Line and the local Safer Neighbourhood Team.
12 young people signed up for the six-week course, which taught them how to maintain bikes, as well as sitting theory and hazard perception tests.
Monica Majumder, the who led the project for L&Q, was thrilled with the take up. She said: “It was great to see these guys get involved, and to see barriers being broken down between the young people and the police was fantastic.”
