Residents get fruity at fun days!

HEALTHY EATING

There was more than just apples and pears as residents on an East London estate turned out in force for a fun day recently aimed at encouraging exercise and healthy eating.

People young and old from the Brooklands Green Estate in Romford enjoyed everything from belly dancing to the finest fruit and veg at the event.

The day was organised and funded by L&Q, the local Primary Care Trust and the London Borough of Havering.

The idea was to get people thinking about eating healthily and find out what health and fitness events residents would like to see on the estate.

Everyone got £60 worth of vouchers to spend on things like healthy food, tai-chi classes, yoga, Indian dancing, football, and lessons on how to make smoothies.

Lee Heckett from L&Q said: “Everyone seemed to have a great day, we were lucky with the weather and hopefully people took away some ideas about how they can eat more healthily and keep fit.”
