Graduate Case Studies

We began our journey into the world of graduate recruitment in 2002 on an informal basis, when Sarah Watson, a bright and enthusiastic graduate joined us at L&Q.

The benefits of employing dynamic, enthusiastic people of Sarah’s calibre soon became apparent and in January 2004 we began our first structured programme with six graduates from a variety of academic backgrounds.

Here, some of our graduates share their thoughts and experiences of life at L&Q.

Sarah Watson, our first Graduate Trainee, shares some of her experiences…

"I know it’s really difficult for a new graduate to take their steps in the ‘real world’ and work out which job would suit them best.

" So many of my friends talked about wanting to help people, to have an influence on important things, to have good career prospects, to work somewhere that’s exciting, diverse and different every day... but they got lost in the graduate blackhole! I would say that a Housing Association is the light at the end of the graduate’s tunnel.

"A traineeship in housing offers you the unique opportunity to experience every facet of an organisation that commits itself to groundbreaking ways to improve people’s lives.

"Not only is London & Quadrant Housing Trust a caring social landlord, actively providing thousands of families with homes, and improving the conditions of communities and neighbourhoods, it is also a rigorously efficient business.

"I have learnt more than all my university years combined."
