Twenty young people in Medway, Kent, recently had a great day out fishing. They tried their hands at fly and pole fishing, nature rambles and other activities at Buckland Fisheries at Cliffe.
L&Q aims to help provide more activities for teenagers and to help them develop positive interests and pursuits. We joined forces with Kent Police, Riverside Housing Association and Medway Youth Services to organise the day.
Grant Blowers, Neighbourhood Investment Co-ordinator for the area, helped organise the event. He said: “Fishing can be very calming and helps focus the mind - this can be ideal for young people who find themselves getting into trouble. We’ve funded the equipment and want to organise regular events at Buckland.”
Buckland Fisheries is a centre for recreational fishing that has recently opened to the public. It is a haven for birds and other wildlife and has a trout lake as well as designated lakes for competitions and for family fishing.
