Maude Estwick, from Herne Hill in Brixton, won the "Best Neighbour" category of the National Housing Federation's annual Neighbourhood Awards.

She has made a huge difference to her community, leading a major project to turn a disused and vandalised space into what is now the award-winning Milkwood Road community park. Maude was a founder member of, and continues to help run, a busy youth association, and represents her community on many local committees. She also finds time to provide support and be a good friend to her neighbours, one of whom has nominated her for L&Q's own residents' awards.

TV talk show host Trisha Goddard presented Maude and the winners of the various other categories with their awards at a ceremony at the annual NHF conference in Birmingham last week.

Maude attended the event with a guest of her own as well as Neighbourhood Investment Manager Matt Corbett and Assistant Director, Housing Management Rupert Moyne from L&Q South West Thames Region.

Matt said: "We're delighted that Maude has won the Best Neighbour award. It's really well-deserved for all the hard work she's put into improving her community over the years."
