Crawley Foyer begins New Year with £20k donation from Virgin

In September 2007 Virgin Atlantic’s Engineers held a charity event at Wildwood Golf Club in Surrey whereby their committee pledged its support to four charities one being the Crawley Foyer, which is part of London and Quadrant Supported Living.

The players were made up of both Virgin Atlantic Airways employees and invited guests from up to 70 companies that work with the Virgin Engineers on a regular basis.

The day started early at 7am, with raffle tickets being sold for a prize draw. At lunchtime, the golfers and one of L&Q’s lucky tenants were treated to a much needed back massage by Virgin’s First class Beauty Therapists.

Three young residents from the Crawley Foyer attended the day to help with refreshments and to act as judicators for the hole in one competition. Dinner was then served which was accompanied by a prize giving ceremony followed by a silent auction and main auction. The ‘Virgineers’ dug deep into their pockets and the day was a huge success, enjoyed by all.

Just before Christmas, The Crawley Foyer was invited to Virgin Headquarters in Crawley to be presented with a cheque for £20,000 which will help to convert the current kitchen into a fully functional Life Skills kitchen for its tenants.

Simon Colquhoun, manager of the Crawley Foyer, pictured collecting the cheque, says "The donation from Virgin is great news and will really help us increase the level of support and service we offer our residents in the future. We are already recognised as a significant and innovative voice for young people in the voluntary sector and we are pleased to be able to offer residents the best chance to make a success of their lives.”
