While the Government plans how it will build three million new homes by 2020 L&Q, one of the UK’s largest housing associations, is once again showing an appetite for delivery. As a partner in the Greenwich Peninsula development L&Q will be responsible for 1,500 of the 10,000 homes built providing a mix of rented and shared ownership schemes. Rather than simply building homes, a new community is being created on the Peninsula that will include a school, a college, offices, cafes, shops and restaurants, once again strengthening L&Q’s pledge to always be a part of ‘creating places where people want to live’.

L&Q believes communities of this size will only be a real success when private and public companies work together with local authorities in order to be able to proactively deliver on the Governments aims. L&Q are pleased to be involved in this new working model for housing developments.

Don Wood, Chief Executive of L&Q adds that “the Greenwich Peninsula is just one of the many projects L&Q has planned over the next 10 years. We look forward to becoming a major part of the Governments plans to deliver affordable housing as our financial strength and experience allows us to get involved in large scale delivery.”

The first plot to be developed on the Greenwich Peninsula is a joint project between L&Q and Bellway designed by architects Stock Woolstencroft. There will be 169 homes on this plot in total of which L&Q will have 46 for rent and 14 for shared ownership. Bellways will then sell the remaining 109 on the open market.

Other key partners in the Greenwich Development include; English Partnerships, Housing Corporation, Local Authorities, Lend Lease, Quintain, MDL and Moat.
